Best Stair Gate 2014

It's surprising just how many accidents happen in the family home. It's important to take suitable safety precautions at home - even when you don't have the health and safety police breathing down your neck like so many of us do at work these days.

Being safe is especially important when you have young kids toddling about in the family home. They're just so curious - and fast. They get into everything before you know it.

No matter how hard you try, it can be really difficult to keep up with an energized toddler. When it comes to keeping an eye on our kids, we all need as much help as we can get!

If you have stairs in your house, then that's definitely an area that you need to watch out for. Fitting a stair gate is definitely a good, and very sensible, idea. It will give you a lot of added peace of mind.

These don't cost a great deal, especially not when you think of the improved safety they afford. They are also very easy to fit. You can usually attach them using screwed connectors and spring loaded clips rather than screws or anything more permanent.

They come in a variety of different materials, styles and colors, you should be able to find something that will suit your home decor. You can also get ones which have special pet doors built into them. You won't need to be up and down like a yo-yo every time your dog wants to move about the house.

Here's a selection of the best stair gates 2014 for you to have a look at:

Best Night Vision Baby Monitors 2014

A lot of young parents, especially first time parents, worry about their young babies. It's perfectly natural, I think we all do/did it.

One of the things that can go a long way to providing added peace of mind, and ensuring baby's security, is a good quality baby monitor. You can get some very high tech ones these days!

Video links are very common - and a lot of these are infra red so that you can keep an eye on your baby even when he/she is asleep in a dark room. Some even let you talk to your baby remotely.

The sound of your voice will often be enough to soothe your baby, and if you do need to pop in, talking while you travel to the nursery, and letting baby know that you're on the way, can help to make your baby feel better faster.

Here's a short list of some of the best night vision baby monitors 2014. See if there's something suitable for you.

New FitFlop Styles 2014

One of the best presents that I ever got for my wife was a pair of FitFlop boots. That was a few years ago and, since then, she's had a few more pairs. She absolutely loves them.

FitFlops were originally marketed as "toning shoes", using slogans such as "the sandal with the gym built in" and "workout while you walk". Of course, there's been a bit of a backlash against toning shoes, but FitFlop hasn't been as affected as the likes of Skechers or Reebok.

The thing is, with FitFlops, it was never really all about the toning. Sure, it was a bonus (a big bonus), but it wasn't the main reason why people bought them.

First things first, FitFlops look great. Even back in the toning days, they were completely different to the other toning shoes on the market. They look just like bright, colorful fashion shoes - and that's exactly what they are.

The good looks are probably why most people buy their first pair. However, the extreme comfort of FitFlops is why so many people go on to buy pair after pair (be warned, they're addictive).

The special sole increases the contact area between the sole of the foot and the sole of the shoe. That reduces the average pressure on the wearer's foot and makes FitFlops extremely comfortable to wear and to walk in.

You won't believe how comfy these are until you try them. However, by way of illustration, consider the fact that so many health care professionals adopted FitFlops as their work shoe of choice that a special clog (the Gogh Pro) was introduced to the range just for health workers.

They really are very comfortable - and they look good. What more do you want in a shoe?

Here's a selection of some of the new FitFlop styles 2014:

Battat Take Apart Airplane Toy

There's absolutely no reason why kids can't learn and have fun at the same time. If you want to provide your youngsters with a fun learning experience, then the Battat range of take apart toys is well worth a look.

Young kids love playing with cars and airplanes anyway, but if you can take them to bits and then put them back together again, then that's even more fun.

The Battat take apart toy collection includes an airplane, roadster car, crane, 4X4 - and more. And it's not just the vehicles. Battat take apart toys come with their own battery powered screwdriver. It has three different attachments and should provide a lot of fun all on its own.

Check out some of the Battat take apart toys below:

Best Digital Pedometer 2014

best digital pedometer 2014
At this time of year, a lot of people will be trying to get into shape, lose weight - or both. One of the best ways to do this is to combine additional exercise with a balanced diet.

One of the best forms of exercise is walking. It's something that everyone knows how to do, and it's ideal for anyone who hasn't exercised for a while.

Health professionals recommend that we should all be aiming to take about 10,000 steps a day. That's somewhere between four and a half and five miles, depending upon you height and stride length.

It does sound like a long way - but it's easier to achieve than you might imagine. Don't forget that the 10,000 step target is the total number of steps that you take every day. It includes the normal steps that you would take walking to the shops, walking around the house, the office etc.

And you don't need to do it all in one go either. That's where a digital pedometer can come in handy. If you're counting all of your steps, a pedometer will help you to keep track accurately, especially if you're getting your steps in in small amounts.

Digital pedometers are inexpensive and, by helping you to keep track of your progress, can help you to stay motivated. They display your results as the number of steps taken (obviously), the distance covered and the number of calories burned.

Some people (including me) find it more motivating to know how many calories a walk equates to. For example, walking to a particular shop and back, instead of taking the car, burns off the same amount of calories as a Mars bar. It's a nice way to look at it.

Anyway, here's a list of some of the best digital pedometers 2014:
