Ready America Bug Out Bags

Doomsday Preppers is one of my favourite shows. I just love the way they introduce you to the mousey looking accountant who, when not adding up columns of meaningless numbers, swaps his suit for camo, lives in an underground bunker and skins deer with his teeth.

They did do a series of Doomsday Preppers UK - but it wasn't the same. Whereas Americans arm themselves to the teeth and have mountain strongholds, us Brits tend to worry about how to get a nice cup of tea when there's just no milk to be had. Americans are just so much better at this sort of thing.

By way of illustration, here's a list of Ready America emergency survival kits - bug out bags if you prefer. They come with everything you need to survive for three days - which is presumably the time it would take to get to your mountain lair - in the event of some major disaster.

Personally, I think that these are a great idea. Unfortunately, if they ever make them for the UK, they'll probably have a thermos flask and a packet of cheese sandwiches wrapped in cling film.
