One of the best presents that I ever got for my wife was a pair of FitFlop boots. That was a few years ago and, since then, she's had a few more pairs. She absolutely loves them.
FitFlops were originally marketed as "toning shoes", using slogans such as "the sandal with the gym built in" and "workout while you walk". Of course, there's been a bit of a backlash against toning shoes, but FitFlop hasn't been as affected as the likes of Skechers or Reebok.

The special sole increases the contact area between the sole of the foot and the sole of the shoe. That reduces the average pressure on the wearer's foot and makes FitFlops extremely comfortable to wear and to walk in.
You won't believe how comfy these are until you try them. However, by way of illustration, consider the fact that so many health care professionals adopted FitFlops as their work shoe of choice that a special clog (the Gogh Pro) was introduced to the range just for health workers.
They really are very comfortable - and they look good. What more do you want in a shoe?
